Aloo Ki Tikki Recipe(Indian Hash Browns)

Aloo Ki Tikki is a popular North Indian snack served in most of the restaurants and chat corners all over India. Aloo tikki is an Indian version of Hash browns prepared with potatoes along with spices and cashewnuts. Aloo tikki tastes awesome with tomato ketchup and mint chutney. Aloo tikki can be served with channa masala or peas masala. Try this simple aloo ki tikki recipe and Enjoy Cooking!!!


Potato, boiled and mashed                                         6 medium
Salt                                                                            to taste
Olive oil +deep fry                                                     1 tbsp
Onion , chopped                                                        1 medium
Cottage cheese (paneer), grated                                 1/4
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped                                1/4 cup
Cashewnuts, crushed                                                  6-8
Red chilli powder                                                       1/2 tbsp

1.Add salt to mashed potatoes and knead into a smooth dough. Divide into portions.
2. Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan and sauté onion till translucent. 
3. Cool and mix with paneer, coriander leaves, cashewnuts, red chilli powder and salt. Divide the mixture into equal portions. 
4. Stuff each portion of mashed potato with a portion of the paneer mixture. Roll and shape into tikkis with half-inch thickness.
5. Heat oil in a kadai (wok) and deep-fry the tikkis till golden brown. Drain and place on absorbent or tissue paper. 
6.Serve hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
