Tamil Nadu Hotel Ven Pongal/Muddha Pongal Recipe(Get a deep sleep with a plate of Madras Pongal )


Rice                                 200 gms
Moong dal                         75 gms
Milk                                 150 ml
Water                               750 ml
Peppercorns                       5 gms
Jeera                                  2 tsp
Ginger sliced                       2 gms
Cashew nuts                       15 no
Curry leaves                        a few
Oil                                      30 ml
Ghee                                  2 tbsp
Salt                                    to taste 


1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Fry peppercorns, jeera, sliced ginger, cashew nuts and curryleaves.
2. Add water and milk to the fried ingredients.
3. Add rice and moong dal when the water starts boiling.
4. Add required salt to taste.
5. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 10 minutes in slow flame. Then keep aside till the pressure goes.
6. Add ghee and mix well before serving.
