Rice Vadagam Recipe(Deep fried spicy snack common in south India made of rice)


Deep fried home made snack made of rice and spices is a simple and best side dish with rasam, curry and curd rice. Reminds my school days lunch bag with a packet of rice vadagam snack. Try this simple snack rice vadagam recipe with leftover white rice and Enjoy Cooking!!!

Ingredients:

Steamed rice                                                        1 cup
Pepper                                                                 3 tbsp (may vary depends on how spicy u want)
Jeera                                                                    2tsp
Red Chilli                                                             10 nos
Salt                                                                       to taste
Oil                                                                        for frying

Procedure:

1. Dry roast pepper, red chilli and jeera seperately.
2. Grind pepper and red chilli coarsely.
3. Add salt , jeera and the grounded powder to the rice and mix well.
4. Make small balls and dry under the sun for 2 to 3 days.Store in a air tight container.
5. Heat oil in a kadai. Deep fry the stored rice balls till it turns light brown in colour.
6. Serve with rasam rice,puzhi kolambu and curd rice.
6. Can be used as snacks too.
