Sourashtra Red Coconut Chutney for Dosa and Idli(Naral Chutney)


Fresh coconut                                        ½ no.
Roasted Bengal gram                              2 tbsp
Tamarind                                           a small piece
Dry red chillies                                  3-4 nos.
Mustard seeds                                        ½ tsp.
Black Gram dal                                       ½ tsp.
Curry leaves                                            a few
Coriander leaves                                     2 springs
Asafoetida                                              a pinch
Oil                                                          1 tsp.
Salt                                                        As per taste

1. Grind coconut, roasted bengal gram, dry red chillies, tamarind, coriander leaves, curry leaves, asafoetida and salt together in a mixer grinder.
2. Add water as required. Tempered with mustard seeds, split black gram dal and curry leaves.
3. Serve it with Idly, Dosa, Lemon rice.

Note: Use this chutney on the same day. Dont keep it for more than a day.
